As a M.A. of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at Xi'an Jiaotong University, Su Yan now serves as a lecturer of Foreign Languages Department, Xi'an Jiaotong University City College. She teaches "New Horizon College English Reading and Writing", "New Horizon College English Listening and Speaking", and "College English 4".
Teaching Concepts: Bearing in mind the teaching principle of "Teaching one to fish is better than giving him fish." She has put great emphasis on cultivating students' study interest and good learning habits. In the process of teaching, she has paid more attention to develop students' autonomous learning abilities. She gives quick response to students' right learning attitudes as well as good learning results. This mechanism can arouse and maintain students' learning eagernesses and enthusiasms. She believes that a teacher should have a pair of "sharp eyes" in the process of teaching and try to dig out each student's strengths and weaknesses, encourage students when necessary. Academically, she mainly conducts researches on English teaching methodology as well as the Applied Linguistics, and many scientific papers have been published.
